On Monday, November 12th we remembered Dr. Sidney Lavine… My predecessor, my mentor, my friend. He was a doctor who was loved by his patients for his compassionate care and warm chair side manner, his immense knowledge of the field, and of course, his great sense of humor. We celebrate him on Dr. Lavine Day but he is thought of much more often. Actually, on most days, my entrance to the office, accompanied by the reverberating sound of a cow bell, triggers my memory of how Dr. Lavine embraced my entrance into the practice almost 23 years ago. I have always felt very fortunate for the opportunity to continue such a legacy which is now over 65 years. The proceeds from November 12 will be donated in his honor to the charity, Optometry Giving Sight, which provides Eye Care to underdeveloped countries.
